Presenters Biographies

John Lucker
Principal – Deloitte Consulting, LLP


Mr. Lucker leads Deloitte’s Actuarial and Insurance Solutions data mining and predictive modeling practice, one of the leading analytics groups in the professional services industry. John provides clients with end-to-end business, operational, and technical consulting services in the areas of data mining, predictive modeling, advanced analytics, data quality remediation, scoring engines, rules engines, and large scale data management. His clients include property-casualty insurance carriers (personal, commercial, standard, non-standard lines), life insurers, health insurers/healthcare providers, public sector entities, reinsurers, TPAs, MGAs, financial services, and consumer products companies. Mr. Lucker has developed numerous proprietary methods and technical solutions in the areas of commercial insurance underwriting, risk selection and pricing, credit and non-credit based predictive modeling solutions for personal lines insurers, claims management, soft fraud detection, agency, sales force and producer management, rules engines, data warehousing and data mining systems design/development, customer relationship management and pricing analytics, and predictive modeling systems.
Mr. Lucker has spoken at numerous national insurance and risk management trade association conferences on various insurance and systems topics and has been published in a number of trade journals and professional publications. He is a co-inventor of two predictive modeling patents which are pending. He holds a BA and an MBA from the University of Rochester.


Mo Masud
Senior Manager – Deloitte Consulting, LLP


Mr. Masud has over ten years of health insurance, public sector, technology and predictive modeling experience. His areas of expertise include: healthcare predictive modeling for private and public sector insurance, healthcare regulatory reporting, clinical expert systems and technical implementation and integration of predictive modeling applications.

Mr. Masud has led numerous engagements of implementation of large scale predictive modeling and custom technical applications for public and private integrated healthcare delivery networks and insurers that helped improve quality and continuity of care. He has served on numerous consulting engagements for state, county and city agencies in New York.

Prior to joining Deloitte, he led a healthcare consulting practice for a specialty consulting firm in Albany, NY. Prior to his tenure in the consulting field, he held several data analysis positions with Empire Blue Cross Blue Shield in New York City including the management of Empire’s corporate wide Health Data Analysis and Reporting Group. Mr. Masud holds a BS in Management Systems and an MBA from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI).


Frank Zizzamia
Director – Deloitte Consulting, LLP


Mr. Zizzamia has over twenty-five years of insurance and financial experience. His areas of expertise include actuarial data mining and predictive modeling (with a focus on neural networks), artificial intelligence, and advanced technology R&D. He has a significant background in project management and has lead numerous national client predictive modeling engagements. Mr. Zizzamia is the founder of Deloitte Consulting’s Advanced Quantitative Services Practice (AQS).

His Property & Casualty experience includes modeling for underwriting, pricing, price tiering, customer profiling, facility depopulation, lead generation, and direct mail campaigns. This work has been done in both personal and commercial lines including worker’s compensation. His Life & Health experience includes neural network modeling for a variety of healthcare products including PPO, HMO, Indemnity, etc. These applications have been used for pricing, state pool population and depopulation, and focused medical management. His artificial intelligence experience concentrated on financial applications. These included several expert systems for the prediction of commercial loan prepayments, the intelligent routing of incoming wires, bank account reconciliation, and the publishing of unclaimed property.

Mr. Zizzamia has spoken on the subject of data mining, predictive modeling, and neural networks at numerous Casualty Actuarial Society seminars and at the Society of Insurance Research. He has been published in Contingencies Magazine, which is a publication of the American Academy of Actuaries. Mr. Zizzamia was awarded a U.S. Patent for the use of neural networks in insurance classification plans and several additional insurance predictive modeling patents pending. Mr. Zizzamia holds a BA in Mathematics from the University of Hartford and an MS in Mathematics from Trinity College.
