Presenter Biography

Naomi Leventhal, Ph.D.

Dr. Leventhal has over twenty years of experience in the areas of Organizational Assessment, Culture Analysis, Change Management, and Strategic Planning. Her experience spans both government and commercial environments, including work for federal clients in civilian, defense, and intelligence sectors and international corporations. With a Ph.D. in Folklore, Dr. Leventhal is an expert in assisting organizations in addressing the relationship of organizational culture to performance related issues. Her past work includes developing a Roadmap for the Future to enable the State Department’s Passport Directorate to meet increased demands for service, conducting a leadership study for an intelligence agency to assist senior executives in creating a more inclusive management approach, and supporting NASA in implementing new processes and policies to realize the benefits of new automated systems. In her current role, Dr. Leventhal is leading several teams that are responsible for Organization Transformation, Culture Studies, and Strategic Planning efforts for NASA and the Internal Revenue Service. She is a thought leader in her field, with credentials that include an extensive list of publications and conference presentations. As co-author of FUSION: A Handbook for Reengineering the Systems Organization (Prentice-Hall, 1993), she provided an approach for enhancing the design of new information systems through the use of culture-based problem solving tools and techniques. Through her development of innovative organization transformation methodologies and the implementation of team-based problem solving strategies, Dr. Leventhal has assisted numerous organizations to enhance their cultural awareness and achieve high impact transformation objectives.
