James Dillon was named Vice President for Marketing and Business Development, North American Public Sector by Unisys Corporation in December of 2005. This appointment followed a long career with New York State government, including the last four years as New York States first Chief Information Officer.
Prior to joining Unisys, Mr. Dillon held a variety of management posts in New York State government. As CIO, Mr. Dillon had full authority and responsibility for overseeing, coordinating and directing State resources related to technology policies and resources found in every agency and public authority in New York State. In addition, he was responsible for coordinating state IT relations with Federal and local governments, the City of New York and the State University of New York.
Prior to his appointment as State CIO, Mr. Dillon served as Executive Deputy Commissioner and Acting Commissioner of the New York State Department of Labor. In addition, Mr. Dillon was a senior staff member of the New York State Assembly for 16 years, including 12 years as Research Director. During Governor George Patakis transition in 1994, he served as a team leader, directing the efforts of Welfare Reform, Public Health and Mental Hygiene committees of the Transition Task Force.
