Procurement Trends in Cyber Security

A great deal of emphasis is placed on cyber security, yet many information technology departments across the country are allocating less and less of their total IT budget towards security. Backbone Security identified this trend in 2004 and sought to discover the underlying causes as well as the facts surrounding a growing myth that the security problems have been solved, or at least are under control.

This presentation will examine the facts, as published by the FBI, CERT and other organizations combined with proprietary research that will separate fact from fiction. The presentation will also offer reasons why cyber security efforts are hard to initiate and execute.
