Service Oriented Architectures

This session will take an historical view of previous architectures, taking into consideration the pluses and minuses of each. The session will then present the role and value of Service Oriented Architectures within the modern computing environment.

This session will review the main components that comprise a Service Oriented Architecture as well as best practices for an effective implementation. Mr. Nicholson will conceptualize, at a high level, an architecture that is capable of servicing a large, complex environment. He will also discuss the operational considerations necessary to support such an environment and look at some sample implementations.

John Nicholson has more than 25 years experience with UNISYS and is recognized as a key provider of consulting services and technical support, including Service Oriented Architectures. John started his career during the peak of the mainframe era. Throughout his career, his knowledge and expertise has kept pace with industry trends. He is a Microsoft MCSE, and has significant .NET skills.

In his current position as an Integration Architect, John is considered an expert at architecting middleware solutions that greatly improve data and process sharing while preserving the value of existing legacy systems. He has designed and implemented Service Oriented Architectures and understands how they solve business problems.
