Our governmental leaders are challenged with shrinking budgets and the need to more effectively deliver new products and services to customers. This in turn places increasing pressure on IT to tightly integrate operational systems.
Faced with this integration challenge, agencies are often overwhelmed with the plethora of solutions available. There are many that claim to be able to dull the integration pain. Simultaneously, industry analysts are churning out a record number of reports about the integration space. During this presentation we will analyze some of the methods, techniques, and considerations involved in tackling the
application to application integration challenge.
Some questions that will be addressed are:
What will be the benefits and limitations of the three major migration
strategies: rip-and-replace, wrap-and-reengineer, and leave-and-layer?
How will the spread of integration technology to application servers,
packaged applications and enterprise service buses affect the use of
independent integration suites?
What will Web Services do to Application Development?
How are services different from applications?
What are the key processes and skill sets necessary for service
deployment organizations?
What barriers must be overcome to allow Web services to become fully
mature?
